Letter to members
Dear Fellow Members,
Today, I write to you with a great sense of commitment to seek your support for the post of President of The Cricket Club of India. I have been a member of this great institution for 47 years.
I walked in as a young man, never imagining that one day I would ask for the privilege of leading it. Sixteen years on the Executive Committee — eight of them as your Treasurer, from 2016 to 2024, and Vice President in 2024–25 — have taught me one thing above all: this Club does not belong to any one person or any one committee. It belongs to all of us.
An open club
An open club is a healthy club. I want more member voices in how this Club is run — and any change of that kind worked towards openly and put to members, never imposed.
Delivered at CCI
- Treasurer for eight years. As Vice Chairman of the Investment Committee the Club’s corpus grew steadily, standing at about ₹955 crores at cost when I handed over — with checks, balances and the full audit process insisted on throughout.
- Clean audit reports, year after year — credit shared with the Committees, the Administration, and the Finance and Accounts teams.
- Vice Chairman of the Legal and CSR Committees.
- An Advocate by profession, founding partner of Rajan Hiranandani & Associates — which is why I trust structures over good intentions.
What I will do next
- A united Executive Committee. A President’s first job is to hold the Committee together — one team in one direction, so decisions get made and then get done.
- Regular Open Houses. Once every quarter, without fail — and what members ask reported back to them at the next one.
- Term limits, put to your vote. No one, including me, should hold office indefinitely. Already the rule for President and Treasurer since August 2024 — I will put it to a members’ vote for the whole Committee.
- A long-term Master Plan for every Club facility, including car parking — put to a members’ vote before anything is commissioned.
- Sport at the heart of the Club — facilities well maintained, accessible coaching, tournaments for younger members, padel and pickleball.
- Our standing outside the gates — the best of relations with the BCCI, and with State and local government.
I am not asking you to trust me on grand promises, but on how you have already seen me work — quietly, carefully, and putting this Club before myself. With all humility, I ask for your vote for President.
